We use many ionic compounds everyday. When we cook or bake we use ionic compounds such as sald, NaCl, and baking soda NaHCO3. Epson salts, MgSO4, may be used to soak sore feet. Milke of magnesia, Mg(OH)2, or calcium carbonate, CaCO3, maybe taken to settle an upset stomach. We also use many covalent compounds everyday! Carbohydrates break down in digestion to provide us with glucose (C6H12O6) for energy. When you drink soda, you are consuming large amounts of molecules of sugar (sucrose, whihc is a covalent compund (C12H22O11). Other covalent compunds include propane C3H8, alcohol, C2H6O, the antibiotic amoxicillin (C16H19N3O5S), and the antidepressant Prozac (C17H18F3NO).
